Introducing Welles Textured Glass
Canadian luxury handmade furniture and lighting studio Gabriel Scott has launched a new custom textured glass finish for the brand’s signature Welles lighting collection.
The Welles Chandelier is a true representation of Gabriel Scott’s design philosophy - to design and make modular products to custom specifications. A modern piece that showcases expert craftsmanship, The Welles comprises a series of hollowed polygons which branch out into a modular system of interconnected configurations.
With its endless possibilities, the Welles floats in the air emitting a cloud of soft light through its multifaceted, sculpturally innovative silhouette. Scalable to various shapes and sizes and assembled to horizontal, vertical or diametric applications, the Welles is a celebration of bespoke, customizable lighting design.
The Welles in textured glass is available in three textures - lines, bubbles and crackled; three new colours: smoked, bronze and clear, and features a new prong-less connection. The additions beautifully complement existing finishes, black and white steel, and smoked grey and white alabaster glass options. All fixtures in the Welles collection are available in satin brass, satin nickel, satin copper, satin bronze and black steel.
Scott Richler, Founder and Creative Director, says: “Five years ago we were looking to design a lighting fixture that would meet two objectives: it had to be expandable without using rods; and it had to be accomplished using a modular system. Many late nights finally delivered a geometry that allowed us to build seemingly infinite configurations with the repetition of a single module.
“Ahead of the Welles’ fifth anniversary in 2022, we have continued our exploration of glass-blowing techniques to create a new custom textured glass finish option which offers our clients additional options in the way they choose to configure their fixture. In addition to textured glass being a beautiful finish suitable for residential, commercial and hospitality projects, the finishes are also a celebration of our design philosophy. We’re excited to explore this concept further over the coming months for Gabriel Scott’s ten year anniversary in 2022 - stay connected to hear more!”
Welles Textured Glass is available to order from December 2021 from www.gabriel-scott.com or from Gabriel Scott’s New York and London showrooms.
